Just got home from work to see the aftermath of yet another crash on the dreadful A63/A19 junction between Barlby and Osgodby.
I have no idea at this moment how many vehicles were involved and whether anyone was hurt, but I think there were at least two police vans and an ambulance. I caught a glimpse […]

Why, oh why, does the bin lorry in Barlby have to come round at 7am on a Monday morning?
Somebody at an office in Portholme Road must really, really hate Barlby - or maybe is some ex-military type who thinks we should all be awake at 7am and put our wheelie bins out on Sunday […]

Call us peaceful or else…

What is it with the “Religion of Peace”? Once again we find baying mobs in the streets, this time burning effigies of the Pope in the name of Islam.
In a speech in his native Germany, Pope Benedict XVI quoted the 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II, who said: “Show me just what Mohammed […]

But the great epoch-defining event […]

Sunflowers

Sunflowers 008
Here’s a sunflower field growing not too far from my doorstep. If you go to Flickr to view the full set, you can just see Drax in the background. Now how many of these fields would it take to create enough biofuel to power a station the size of Drax?
Mind you, I must admit […]

Drax women bailed

Two women who were charged with aggravated trespass at the Drax protest have appeared at York magistrates’ court and been granted unconditional bail until 23 October.
Marcia Tubbs, 35, of London Road, Brighton, and Ellie Lucas, 23, of Burns Street, Nottingham were arrested at Drax in North Yorkshire last week.
They appeared before York magistrates on Wednesday […]
